Oil & Water Separator – OWS Steel

(Flow rates above 22 GPM)

he OWS Steel oil and water separator is designed for handling higher flow rates of effluent contaminated with free oil, suitable for flows exceeding 22 GPM. Constructed from either stainless steel or carbon steel, this system efficiently removes oil particles as small as 60 microns, ensuring clean discharge and minimal environmental impact.

How It Works

The OWS Steel uses a physical separation process based on Stokes Law. As the oily effluent enters the separator—either by gravity or with the aid of a pump—it flows into a pouring chute and passes over coalescent plates. These plates encourage oil particles to coalesce and rise to the surface, separating from the water. The clean, oil-free water is then discharged, meeting environmental regulations for safe disposal.

Applications

The OWS Steel is ideal for industries and operations that deal with oil-contaminated water, including:

  • Heavy vehicle washers: Suitable for managing wastewater from truck and bus washing facilities.

  • Airports and Ports: Effective for handling effluents contaminated with oils from aircraft or ships.

  • Industries: Perfect for large-scale industrial processes that produce oily wastewater.

  • Mining: Designed to manage effluents from mining operations.

  • Railroads: Useful for handling oil-contaminated water from railroad yards and operations.

  • General industries: Applicable for any facility handling water with free oil (insoluble).

The OWS Steel oil and water separator is a reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solution for businesses needing to manage large volumes of oil-contaminated water, while meeting regulatory requirements and reducing environmental impact.
